Peace Verses
The peace that surpasses all understanding — finding God's calm in life's storms.
For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
But {when} ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and {when} he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
Six days thou shalt eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day {shall be} a solemn assembly to the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work {therein}. {solemn...: Heb. restraint}
Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. {words: or, matters}
When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.
And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, {that} all the people {that is} found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.
And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:
And if thy brother {be} not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest {thyself}. {quarters: Heb. wings}
Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever. {prosperity: Heb. good}
When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean {it} afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. {afterward: Heb. after thee}
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee {for} an inheritance to possess it, {that} thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget {it}.
