Peace Verses

Their Redeemer {is} strong; the LORD of hosts {is} his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive {certain} of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.

Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits. {because of great...: Heb. for the greatness of servitude}

Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.

And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity. {prosperity: Heb. good}

My soul hath {them} still in remembrance, and is humbled in me. {humbled: Heb. bowed}

{It is} good that {a man} should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken {it} in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.

Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and {there shall be} none. {Destruction: Heb. Cutting off}
