Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
And one of them, {named} Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew {it}, that they might take him.
Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
Judas then, having received a band {of men} and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. {year: year. And Annas sent Christ bound unto Caiaphas the high priest}
