Blessings & Protection Verses
God's favor, divine protection, and abundant blessings promised to those who walk in His ways.
Now the rest of the people {that were} left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away. {fugitives: Heb. fallen away}
But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land {to be} vinedressers and husbandmen.
And the firepans, and the bowls, {and} such things as {were} of gold, {in} gold, and of silver, {in} silver, the captain of the guard took away.
And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door: {door: Heb. threshold}
And Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah:
The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, {were} four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war. {valiant...: Heb. sons of valour}
And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah, {namely}, Hebron, {the city} of refuge, and Libnah with her suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa, with their suburbs,
And they gave unto them, {of} the cities of refuge, Shechem in mount Ephraim with her suburbs; {they gave} also Gezer with her suburbs,
Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the {first} three: and David set him over his guard.
And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, {and} men of war {fit} for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces {were like} the faces of lions, and {were} as swift as the roes upon the mountains; {of war: Heb. of the host} {as swift...: Heb. as the roes upon the mountains to make haste}
The children of Judah that bare shield and spear {were} six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war. {armed: or, prepared}
And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.
